    Second Great Awakening

    A big uprise in the Protestant community that brought many members into the church system and got many people in tuned with their spiritual side. This is an example of the american dream because it gave a lot of people faith in themselves and in god and this helped them to carry on through many hardships.
  • Hamiltons economic plan

    Hamilton decided to take it as his own responsibility to try and find a solution to the national debt. This shows leadership because he took it upon himself to try and fix this issue.
  • Proclamation of neutrality

    This was an announcement made by president Washington declaring the nation neutral during the conflict between France and England. This was an example of leadership because Washington took it upon himself to say they were staying out of the fight to keep his people safe.
  • Jay's treaty

    A treaty that helped to avert any war from happening between the US and Great Britain. This is an example of diplomacy because it was a peaceful way of both countries coming to an agreement so the US could stay neutral.
  • Treaty of Greenville.

    This allowed negotiations to take place after the Native Americans lost the battle of Fallen Timbers and ended the northwest indian war. This is an example of diplomacy because it allowed for them to peacefully negotiate their terms and get back to being somewhat allies.
  • Pickney's Treaty

    This treaty established friendship between Spain and The US. This is an example of diplomacy because Spain was trying to colonize America at one point but they put that aside to become friends.
  • Washingtons Farewell Address

    Washington decided to put down his leadership as president to let others take his place to run the country, so it was not like a monarch. This is an example of leadership because he set the foundation for the two term system and urged his fellow Americans to avoid any divide in the political parties and try to stay united.

    XYZ Affair

    US Ambassadors were trying to negotiate peace with France, but then France wanted bribes and various other things to even let them in the country. This is an example of diplomacy because one diplomat did stay and set the foundation for ending any potential physical conflict and any more diplomatic conflict.
  • Alien and sedition acts

    These were laws that were passed that made it easier to deport foreigners and made it harder for the immigrants to have an influence on american politics. This is an example of diplomacy because at the time it was a peaceful way from stopping either french or British from swaying their political system towards either of their favors.
  • Democratic republicans vs Federalists

    Two groups had different views about the constitution and how it should be enforced. This is an example of conflict because it showed two groups arguing over how the constitution should be followed and enforced.
  • Alexander Hamilton vs Thomas Jefferson

    They were the two candidates for president in 1800. This is an example of conflict because they both represented two different sides that viewed how the constitution should be followed and put into effect.
  • Midnight Judges

    John Adams passed the Judiciary Act of 1801 a few weeks before his term ended, appointing judges during those weeks who signed appointments up until Midnight of his last day as president to change how the federal court system worked. This is an example of conflict because Adams tried to change this to resolve an issue in the supreme court so Jefferson couldn't do it himself.

    This allowed the US and France to end the conflicts of the Quasi wars that had broken out. This is an example of diplomacy because it let the two countries resolve their issues after the quasi wars had erupted.
  • Election of 1800

    The election between Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. This is an example of conflict because they both represented parties that had very different views on the constitution, which is exactly what Washington did not want.
  • Citizenship

    Many immigrants started coming to America around this time to seek a free life. This is an example of the american dream because its an example of how America was shown as a place welcome to everyone and to harbor anyone and to keep them safe.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Thomas Jefferson decided to send Lewis and Clark to explore the land beyond where they had currently colonized, and eventually purchased the land to expand America even more. This is an example of the American Dream because it allowed them to expand freely beyond the border which had previously kept them limited.
  • Embargo Act

    This embargo prohibited any american ships from trading in all foreign ports. This is an example of Diplomacy because this was America's solution to try and put an end to the immpressment that was starting to happen with the british.

    The first main highway built inside of the US and it became the main transport path to the west for settlers. This is an example of the American dream because it allowed others to expand and move to areas they would prefer more, a lot easier.

    War of 1812

    A war that was between the US and Great Britain due to Great Britain not respecting America's wishes and started to delve into impressment of many merchant sailors. This is an example of conflict because it caused The US and British to fight for a few years over these issues until they were resolved in early 1815.

    The treaty that ended the war between the US and United Kingdom. This is an example of diplomacy because they were able to resolve their issues about the trade restrictions and about impressment.
