Government programs for Reconstruction
In his third annual message to Congress on December 8, 1863, Lincoln for the first time presented a program for Reconstruction, a plan marked by considerable leniency. The message was preceded on the same day by a presidential proclamation that laid down the conditions for Reconstruction. Lincoln's plan was based on three assumptions: that the Southern states had never legally been out of the Union; that they could be restored as soon as their political institutions were properly reordered; and -
13th Amendment
Passed by Congress on January 31, 1865, and ratified on December 6, 1865, the 13th amendment abolished slavery in the United States and provides that "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.". -
14th Amendment
the 14th amendment is civil rights. In the government these days the 14th Amendment plays such a huge part because it doesn’t allow slavery by any means in any state alongside with it permitting life, liberty or justice to all who deserve through the due process of law. -
15th Amendment
the 15th amendment was Black sufferage. The 15th amendment says that no federal or state government cant tdeny citizens votes. It was ratified on February 3, 1870. -
