The slave trade was a huge step forward and backwards for the world. It boosted the economy greatly by opening up a new market and providing free labor for slave owners. Also its not like slaves were new, africans had enslaved their own people for quite some time. However this was a different type of slavery. Copernicus said that the planets revolved around the suna and Galileo made advancments in the study of gravity. Some new tools consisted of microscopes and better telescopes. Peter the great really expanded russia and made its westernization happen. Westernization in russia meant that old russian culture was being replaced by new western culture. For example, Peter the great made his nobles cut their beards and made people wear western clothes. New backgrounds of people were coming into being in the americas and in the indies. These people were called castas and in many cases were put in the middle of the social chain. For example, in the spanish indies, the castas filled the gap between whites and slaves. This shows change because the new people were being created due to the mixing of other people.
