    Ottoman Empire

    The Songhai empire was a huge a empire that was wealthy becuase of the Trans-Sahara trade.     Beginning of Portuguese slave trade
    The Portuguese were interested in gold when they traded. They found out they could make a considerable amounnts of gold transporting slaves from one trading post to another trading post along the Atlantic coast of Africa. The Portuguese began trading slaves from to Europe to make more gold.

    Reign of Mehmed the Conqueror

    Mehmed was the first Sultan to codify criminal and constitutional law of the Ottoman Empire. He conquered Constantinople and brought an end to the Byzantine empire.     Sunni Ali's reign

    Sunni Ali was a Muslim ruler that ruled the Songhai Empire for 28 years.He was the first ruler of the Songhai empire. He managed to conquer many lands like Timbuktu and Djenne.     Moctezuma

    Moctezuma was the Aztec emperor that took the Aztec empire to its hieght. The first contact with the spanish came during his reign and he welcomed them due to the fact that he thought Hernan Cortez was a god. He was killed during the initial stages of the spanish conquest of Mexico.     Martin Luther

    Martin Luther was a German monk and a professor of theolog. He was the founder of the Protestant church and the Protestant Reformation. He provided the Catholic Church with the 95 thesis that explained the wrong things of there church.     During DIas voyage into the Indian Ocean he discovered the Cape of Good Hope. His voyage established a sea route from the Atlantic Ocean to the Indian Ocean and Asia. He inspired explorers to explore the Indian Ocean.

    Columbus first voyage
    Columbus first voyage included three ships; the Pinta, the Nina, and the Santa Maria. Columbus found a island on October 12 and decided to name it San Salvador. The island was modern day Bahamas. He explored the Bahamas and then found Cuba. Columbus believed he had found China and sent two men to investigate, they found a tribe and adopted tabacco from them. The porpuse of his voyage was to find a quicker route to China. The effect of his voyage was that more voyages were held to the Americas.

    The Columbian exchange was the exchange of plants, animals, diseases, and technologies between the Americas and the rest of the world or often known from the new world to old world.     Safavid Empire

    The official religion was Shi'a Islam and the Twelver school of Shi'a Islam was established during the empire. The state was one of checks and balance, both within the government and a local level. It ued land grants to support its clavalry. THe population spoke several languases insteadof just one.     Spanish conquest of Mexico

    Hernan Cortes went to the Americas with few men and he allied with a number of the tributaries and rivals of the Aztecs. The rivals of the Aztecs includes the Totonacs, and the Tlaxcaltecas. They overan the Aztecs due to the fact of smallpox that spread quickly to the Aztecs killing most of them. The survivors were killed during battle and many of them were inslaved for labor.     Reign of Suleyman the Magnificent

    Suleyman the Magnificant was the tnth and longest ruling emperor of Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. During his reign he completely reconstructed the Ottoman legal system which benefited his country. Suleyman instituded legaslative changesa to the society, education, taxation and criminal law.     Council of Trent

    The Council of Trent was a council that met in the city of Trent which is in northern Italy for three sessions that were between 1545 and 1563. In the council, they distinguished proper Cathlothic doctrines from the errors of the Protestants.     John Locke

    John Loke argued that the governemnt was supposed to protect the people's rights and if they didnt, people were allowed to rebel against the government since they failed to protect the people. He also argued that rulers should be granted authority by the people and that rulers should be subject to law.     After the English Civil War, England replaced the current king, James II, during his riegn by his protestant daughter Mary.
