    In the Summer of 1914, Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie accepted an invitation to visit the capital of Bosnia Sorojeva. He was informed of terrorist activity by the nationalist organization the "Black Hand" and ignored warnings. On June 28, 1914, the royal couple arrived by train and drove to the city for an official reception. On the way back after a bomb attack an assassin was waiting Princip was waiting. The car backed up and shot Sophie and the Archduke in the neck.
