    Assaination of Franz Ferdinand
    Royal Prince Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in Bosnia by the black hand. Austria-Hungary felt they had to prove themselves and punish Serbia. Decelerating a war against Serbia starting the World War.

    War Starts
    From the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia officially starting the first world war.
  • Battle of Tannenberg

    Battle of Tannenberg
    War between Russia and Germany along the eastern front. Russian troops had been attacking Germany in East Prussia. Russia had been sending radio messages which Germany had intercepted forcing Russians to retreat.
  • Christmas Truce

    Christmas Truce
    The Christmas truce of 1914 was a ceasefire along the western front. It started by one side of the war singing Christmas carols, The Germans faced them outside of the trenches in no man's land, both sides shook hands and spent Christmas night singing carols and playing football.

    A German submarine had torpedoed a British ship thinking it was up, not knowing it was a passenger ship. Germany defended themselves by saying their persistent warnings to anyone traveling in the war zone then accused Britain and America of using passenger ships to secretly transport military supplies. Us demanded reparations ending German attacks on unarmed passengers. Germany agreed to America's terms keeping them out of the war.

    The longest bloodiest battle of World War 1. Germans used tactic of total war to destroy French moral which ended in extreme loss for both sides. Neither side one the battle.

    The Russian Army held the eastern front unprepared.Vladimir Lenin led the communist Bolsheviks which seized power in 1917, Signed the treaty of brest-litovsk which gave Russias' industries under central power control pulling out Russia and USSR out of the war.

    Germany sent a coded message to mexico asking mexico to join Germany in the war if the US had entered. Encase of America joining the war and allied with the British Germany needed and alliance with someone else.Germany offered to help Mexico regain Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. In return Mexico would draw away troops from Europe if America wanted to tie down its southern border. But Mexico had still refused to join the war.

    From pressure of the United States, Germany used U-boat submarine warfare formerly suspended the use from the Lusitania sinking. However, in 1917 German navy commanders disliked the idea and were convinced that it was an essential component to German Warfare.

    For most of the World War America tries to stay out of the war while being allies with the British providing trnsport and weapons. The attack of the Lusitania was the main reason of joining the war due to Germany attacking US and British Civilians.

    British troops launched an attack in the Somme River area to pull German troops away from Verdun. On the first day of fighting, there were more than 50,000 casualties and due to its destruction, they had killed off the population of civilians living there including the farmers living there after the war injured from gunshot shells.

    An official stop to World war fighting. Allies and countries were in great debt. Negotiations for treaties began in January 1919 with Germany having no participation lead into the treaty of Versailles.
  • Battle of Mons

    The last battle of World War 1, was fought between Germany and Canadian Corps. Canada had been trying to take control of the Belgium town of Mons when Germany had accepted an armistice at 11 am.

    End of War
    Negotiations on reparations for the war began in January 1919 with no German say. European countries and the US had come to the agreement that the war was the Germans fault and created a treaty with demands for Germany. Germany accepted these demands and agreed to pay or all the damages caused by her armies during the war.
