The French and Indian War
The French and Indian War was a war between the French (who were fighting on the Indian’s side) and Britain. The British were fighting against the French and the Indians for land and the Ohio River Valley. The British ended up winning the war and going into debt, so they believed that the colonists needed to pay them back for saving their land, so they started taxing the colonists.
