The Battle of Lexington and Concord
The battle was the first battle in the revolution. General Gage decided to attack, little did he know that would kick off the war that would lead to America's independence. Spies leaked word of his plan, and the minutemen spread the word that the attack was going to happen. When the two sides approached each other, one soldier fired first, which became known as the shot heard round the world. The actions of the individuals on this night were very important to the war and the future of America. -

Revolutionary Women
Patriotic women helped the war by creating homespun garments for the soldiers and shared their food with them. Some of them also acted as spies. In addition, many of them kept their homes running while their husbands were away fighting. This was the first time that women were allowed to really contribute to the war, and their sacrifice and hard work made a significant difference. -

Introduction
This project is a timeline explaining eight of the most important events in American history during the period of 1776-1820. The actions of individuals throughout the Revolutionary War and immediately afterwards are what changed the course of American history. -
Bunker Hill
Artemis Ward led the American troops to the top of what was supposed to be Bunker Hill, but was actually Breed's Hill, to attack the British from the superior position. They held the hill and were only defeated after several waves of attacks. Although they were eventually defeated, they lasted a lot longer than the British expected and took a lot of British soldiers out. -
Declaration of Independence
On July 4th, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed by Congress. This was the result of a lot of hard work by a number of individuals, and was the starting point of America as an independent country. -

Valley Forge
Wahington's army had been losing battles, and was falling apart. Baron Von Steuben, a volunteer in the army, told Washington that he needed to train the soldiers differently, and together they trained them, made them more professional, and boosted their confidence. This would later help them win more battles and eventually the war. -
Treaty of Paris
Representatives from the United States, Great Britain, Spain, and France signed the Treaty of Paris. This was the result of all the actions of the individuals throughout the war - each person who contributed made the end of the war and the American victory possible. -
Shay's Rebellion
A series of protests during 1786 and 1787 demonstrated the unrest of the American citizens regarding their economic situation and showed that they would stand against the political elite. -
First Presidential Administration
George Washington was the first American president. This was the beginning of our presidential system, which is in place over 200 years later. -
