    Before 1853 Japan was very isolated and closed its doors to other countries and ideas. Due to this Japan missed the industrial revolution. Between the years of 1868 and 1912 Japan decide to open its doors and accept new ideas, due to this Japan industrialized rapidly, becoming a great world power

    Japan wanted to economically compete with europran and American powers. Japan needed more resources to fuel their booming economy. They were very limited to their resources due to were they are located. The need for resources were greater streseed during the great depression . Japan realised that they needed to expand to new territories to aquire new resources.
