    On February 18 everything changed when protesters and police clashed. At least 82 people were killed during the few days including 13 policeman and more than 1,100 people were injured. On that day 20,000 Euromaidan protesters advanced on Ukraine's parliament to help restore the Constitution of Ukraine.
  • State of Emergency

    State of Emergency
    On February 19 the authoriries instituted police checkpoints and restrictions on ublic transportation and school closures in Kiev. The media referred to as a state of emergency.
  • The Decree

    The Decree
    On February 20 the Minister of Internal Affairs Vitaliy Zakharchenko had signed a decree that allowed live ammunition against protesters. Central Kiev saw the worst violence and the death toll was in 48 hours of clashes rose to at least 77. The next day the Chairman of the Ukrainian parliament Volodymyr Rybak had signed a parliamentary decree that said the use of force and urging all institutions to cease immediately all military actions against protesters. They also suspended Zakharchenko.
  • The agreement

    On February 21 pesident Yanukovych signed a compromise deal with opposition leaders. This would implement constitutional changes to hand powers back to parliament and early elections. Thousands still protested in central Kiev and took full control of the city's government district, the parliament, the president's administration quarters, the cabinet, and the Interior Ministry.
