    526 Antioch Earthquake

    The 526 Antioch earthquake struck Syria of the Byzantine Empire. It occurred in late May 526 killing approximately 250,000 people. the magnitude of the earthquake was estimated to be 7 on the "SWM".
  • 1737 Calcutta Cyclone

    The 1737 Calcutta cyclone was the first super cyclone on record in North Indian Ocean and is regarded as one of the worst natural disasters in India. It hit the coast near Kolkata on the morning of 11 October 1737 and has been reported to have killed over 300,000 people inland and at sea. It was a Cat 5 tropical cyclone with wind speeds matching 270 km/h which is 165 mph.

    The 1903 Manzikert earthquake struck Manzikert on 28 April. Registering a surface wave magnitude of 7.0 the earthquake originated from a highly active seismic zone. It killed 3,500 people and 20,000 animals, destroyed 12,000 homes, and is now listed among Turkey's deadliest earthquakes in recorded history. Turkey is still a victim of constant earthquakes to this day.

    The 1906 Hong Kong typhoon was a tropical cyclone much like Calcutta that hit Hong Kong on 18 September 1906. The natural disaster caused property damage exceeding a million pounds sterling (idk how much today), affected international trade, and killed 15,000 people. The Portugeese were heavily affected aswell.

    The 1909 Borujerd earthquake happened in the Silakhor plain Persia now Iran on January 23. Around 8,000 fatalities were caused directly from the magnitude 7.3 earthquake. Presistant aftershocks hit six months after the main shock. The place was the same as the area of the 2006 Borujerd earthquake.

Its power was that of to wreck entire villages within a span of 50 minutes and an estimated 500,00 people died. The overall public information on the cyclone was scarce and contributed to the large death toll.
