    The U.S declared independence from England of this date after the American revolution. The people in the U.S were done giving in to the English so after the revolution the founding fathers put together the Declaration of independence.
  • The Signing of the U.S constitution.

    The Constitution was signed. This set in place the freedoms and some of the laws we had today.
  • Whiskey Rebellion

    Whiskey Rebellion
    A tax protest that turned sour quickly. The government put a tax on whiskey making a lot of people groups very mad.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    The U.S purchased a large piece of land from the French. This piece of land allowed the U.S expand further west.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    Battle of New Orleans
    The English tried storming New Orleans in order to take control of newly acquired territory of the U.S. The victory of the the English proved our dominance of the the European powers at the time.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    Monroe Doctrine
    A foreign policy that kept Europe and their ideas out of the U.S and America in general. This was our way of saying we didn't wan't anything to do with the European nations.
  • Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

     Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
    The Treaty ultimately ended the war with Mexico and made Manifest Destiny possible. The newly acquired land allowed us to expand fully to the west coast.
  • Dred Scott Decision

    Dred Scott Decision
    The U.S Supreme court ruled that enslaved people like Dred Scott were not considered citizens. This meant the had no right to sue for their own freedom.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Emancipation Proclamation
    The Emancipation Proclamation was declared by President Abraham Lincoln saying that all slaves in the rebellious States were now free. This was a big step towards completely abolishing slavery.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    Battle of Gettysburg
    A big moment in the civil war when the Union defeated the Confederate forces. There were many casualties and is known to be the turning point of the war.
