    The League of Nations
    The League of Nations was established on January 10, 1920 after World War I. It was the first worldwide intergovernmental organisation that was created to maintain world peace. Woodrow Wilson was the politician who started The League of Nations. This is significant because it was one of the most popular ideas due to it potentially bringing together a lot of countries in hopes of preventing wars.
  • Woman gain the right to vote

    Woman gain the right to vote
    Women sought to change voting laws to allow them to vote. The 19th Amendment was passed by Congress May 21, 1919. After a long time of debate, it was ratified on August 18, 1920. The 19th amendment granted women the right to vote. This is significant because it changed the authority woman had and the impact it had on society.
  • Louis Armstrong

    Louis Armstrong
    Louis Armstrong made his first recordings on April 5th, 1923 and earned his first recorded solo on “Chimes Blues”. Louis Armstrong helped transform Henderson’s band into what became known as the first jazz band. Armstrong's voice first became gravelly due to a prolonged cold playing jazz on a steamboat in 1921. He had surgeries to try to repair his vocal cords, which had the opposite effect. This is significant because Louis Armstrong became a very popular idol that people loved and listened to.

    The Great depression was an economic spiral. During this time millions of investors were wiped out and a lot of employees were fired from lack of money the businesses were making. Factory production was slow from unsold goods. This is significant because it had a major impact on Americans lives negatively.

    Adolf Hitler was a German politician and leader of the Nazi party. He became leader of Germany in 1933. He began World War II in Europe by invading Poland on September 1, 1939. He fueled the start of the Holocaust. This is significant because he started WWII and the Holocaust which was terrible and devastating for many civilians.

    Rock and Roll
    Elvis Presley brought rock and roll music to the masses. A lot of the older people hated the rock and roll music and didn’t like the new dance moves the kids were doing. Rock and roll music was banned from stores, schools, and many radio stations. Rock music was very appealing to teenagers and they loved Elvis Presley. This is significant because Elvis was an idol that people loved and listened to.
  • Korean War

    Korean War
    The Korean War was a war between North Korea and South Korea that began on June 25, 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea. The war ended unofficially on July 27, 1953 in an armistice. The United States came to the aid of South Korea at the head of a United Nations force. This is significant because we helped South Korea due to the harshness and arrogantness of North Korea.
  • Neil Armstrong

    Neil Armstrong
    Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut and an aeronautical engineer. He made history being the first person to walk on the moon on July 20, 1969. He developed a fascination with flight at an early age and earned his student pilot's license when he was 16. He was a Navy pilot and flew 78 combat missions during this military conflict. This is significant because no one has ever been on the moon before and it is a very difficult journey.
  • Vietnam War

    The Vietnam War began after World War II.The United States came in and escalated into full commitment during the Vietnam War from 1955-1973.This war was the battle between North and South Vietnam.While the US was providing the South Vietnamese gov. with military supplies, the North Vietnamese gov. wanted to unify their entire country under one communist gov. like the Soviet Union.This is significant because it was the longest war in US history and we didn't the Soviet Union to spread around.
  • CNN launched

    CNN launched
    CNN was launched on June 1, 1980, in Atlanta Georgia. CNN stands for Cable News Network which is a multinational news-based television channel. It was founded by American media proprietor Ted Turner and Reese Schonfeld as a 24-hour cable news channel. It is known for being ‘fake news’ and having false information. This is significant because it is a channel know all throughout America.
