    The Ten Percent Plan
    In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln issued his documents he Proclamation of Amensty and Reconstruction. In the document he described the Ten Percent Plan. In this plan, the president states that if ten percent of the southern voters agree with the Union then they can become a state again.

    Jim Crow Laws or Black Codes
    The Black Codes or Jim Crow Laws. After slavery was abolished these laws passed. Even though Aftican Americans were free now they still has many disadvantages and were treated unfairly. They used different facilities and couldn't apply for things such as unemployment.Lastly, they had schools and other things set up for just African Americans.

    Klu Klux Klan and Lynch Mobs
    The Klu Klux Klan was founded by a group of old Confederate Generals. They used violence against Republican leaders and African Americans in hopes to make the South mainly or all white again. They targeted places such as churches or schools and even killed seven African Americans that were running for office at the time. By 1870 they had spread to every southern state. In 1871 there were efforts to stop Klan activity and it was completely destroyed by 1875.
  • Carpetbaggers and Sharecroppers

    Carpetbaggers and Sharecroppers
    Carpetbaggers and sharecroppers were big things during reconstruction. Carpetbaggers were people from the North that came down to the south. They help to build the south but were eventually kicked out. The sharecroppers were former slaves that rented land and were paid little money for their work. This is just a date during the period in which this was happening.

    The Comprimise of 1877
    The Comprimise of 1877 solved many problems if not all of the problems. It fixed all of the issues of the previous election. It helped to pull troops from the Southern states. Lastly, it took the Untied States out of Reconstruction.

    Food in the 1910s was usually dependent on the ethnicity and the wealth of the family. Southern and Northern families ate very differently. Lastly, the country had to ration due to the war.

    After the great fire of 1871, Chicago became the nation's main instrument producer. They started producing tons of pianos and organs. Being that the progressive era took place before the radio and sound tv instruments were a main source of self entertainment.     There was no NFL in 1910 there was only college football. A touchdown was worth only 5 points compared to its regular 6, you can only throw 20 yards down the field and you had to let the receiver catch the ball.     In the 1910s only 19% of high school kids were enrolled and only 9% graduated. The education at the time shifted from farming to the industrial business. A majority of the things in school came from other countries like Europe.
