    Ponce de León begins to explore Florida

    After sailing with Columbus, León would explore Puerto Rico and become their governer. After that he would search for the fountain of youth.

    Land and Labor

    The Spanish would first enter North America and would attempt to enslave the Native Americans. This event began in 1519, the end date is unknown.
  • 1521

    Cortes conquers the Mexican Aztecs

    The search for gold led him to the Native American empires. Cortes and his soldier's goal were to conquer the Aztec Empire.
  • 1524

    New France

    The French king sent Giovanni da Verrazano to explore North America. From Carolina to as north as Maine.
  • England defeats Spain Armada

    Spain had made a devastating navy army to invade and conquer England. England came out on top and was then known to have the strongest navy.
  • Pueblo Revolts

    The king of Spain, Juan de Oñate, had founded the first Spanish settlements in New Mexico. After that, they would attempt to replace the Natives way of religion to Christianity.
  • New Netherland

    After the Netherlands gained its independence from Spain they sought to explore North America. They would look for a Northwest passage which is now known as the Hudson RIver.
  • Growing tobacco

    Tobacco was the crop that made the Jamestown and Virginia colony profitable. The first English setter to grow tobacco was John Rolfe
  • The House of Burgesses

    Representatives for various communities in Virginia met in an assembly. The group had the power to raise taxes and make laws, but the governor still had the right to veto those laws.
  • Colonial workers

    The majority of workes in Virginia were indentured servants. They worked under contract for a certain number of years, usually four to seven.
  • Pilgrims Settle

    The pilgrims would land in Plymouth in an attempt at a better life. Many of them being unemployed and a large portion being farmers they could have a new life and know how to work best.
  • Conflicts with Native Americans

    Relations between the settlers and the Powhatan Confederacy worsened. In an attempt to protect Indian lands the Powhatans launched a surprise attack on Jamestown
  • Conflicts among settlers

    Sir William Berkeley wanted good relations with the Native Americans on the frontier to protect trade with them. Bacon formed a small army and started a rebellion known as Bacon's Rebellion.
  • 13 Colonies are Formed

    English, French, and Spanish are those who ruled the first 13 colonies and the English needed a military buffer zone. They would create this buffer zone which is current day Georgia which is the 13th colony.

    Girls would be believed to be witches after "strange" behavior. this will cause large amounts of suspicion and anybody with "strange" behavior to be a witch
