  • Start of the Republic of Texas

    Start of the Republic of Texas
    The start of the Republic of Texas was on March 2, 1836 when they declared independence from Mexico turning them into a republic of their own. Their first president, David G. Burnet, was also the 2nd vice president from December 31, 1838 – 1841. Along with that, he was the Secretary of Texas in 1846–1848.

    End of the Republic of Texas
    On this date, the Republic of Texas was annexed as a state to the United States. Along with the annexation, Texas's debt was taken off by the United States. This happened shortly before the start of the Mexican-American war which this event was a trigger for the war.

    U.S. Mexican War

    The war lasted 1 year, 9 months, 1 week & 1 day & the whole dispute was started after Texas was annexed into the United States and Mexico thought they still had control of the Texas while realisticly, the United States had control over it. After the war, they aggreed that all hispanic speaking people would have the same rights as all other citizens in the U.S. They aslo aggreed that the Mexicans could not walk onto U.S. soil in the idea of war. All this was aggreed in the treaty of Guadalupe Hil
  • Battle of Fort Sumter

    Battle of Fort Sumter
    This battle lasted only 2 days and it took place at Ft. Sumter near Charslton, South Carolina. This event was the beginning of the Civil war in which the Confederate bombarded the Union and resulted in the Union giving in while also starting the civil war. The Union was greatly outnumbered with the Confederate had (estimated) 500 soldiers while the Union only had about 85. The Union was led by Robert Anderson and the Confererate was lead by P.G.T. Beauregard.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    Battle of Gettysburg
    This battle is, hands-down, the bllodiest battle of the bloodiest war in history with an astounding 46,000+ casulties/ wounded/ captured/ missing with about 23,000 on each side. This battle, which only lasted 3 days, took place in Gettysburg, Adams Country, Pennsylvania, had an outcome of the Union overpowering the Confederate with about 22,000 more men than the Confederate. The leaders of the Union, George G. Meade and John F. Reynolds, fought a long, hard, bloody battle aginst the Confederate.
  • 13th Amendment

    13th Amendment
    This amendment was set out in order to abolish all slavery in the United States. Section one of the amendment says: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." and section two stated: "Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."
  • 14th Amendment

    14th Amendment
    This amendment was enacted to give all people born or naturalized in the United States, the rights that all U.S. citiznes have. The main point was brought across in Section 1 which said: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside..."
  • 15th Amendment

    15th Amendment
    This amendment was adopted to allow all males of the U.S., no matter what race, color, or previous position of servitude, the right to vote. I did not, however, allow any women to vote. The main point was brought across in Section 1 that says: "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude."
