Digital Underground

Tupac's First Solo Album

Tupac makes his Hollywood acting debut in director Ernest Dickerson’s Juice. -

Tupac’s sophomore album, Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z..., is released and features the hit singles “Keep Ya Head Up” and “I Get Around.” Tupac stars alongside Janet Jackson in director John Singleton’s film Poetic Justice. Tupac forms the group Thug Life with his friends Big Syke, Macadoshis, Rated R, and his stepbrother Mopreme Shakur. -
Prison
Tupac begins serving a prison sentence for sexually assaulting a woman in a hotel room back in 1993. He serves only 9 months of his sentence before Suge Knight bails him out for $1.4 million in exchange for a 3-record deal with Death Row Records. The multi-platinum album Me Against the World is released shortly after Tupac begins his prison sentence. Following his release from prison, Tupac begins a new group called Outlaw Immortalz (aka Outlawz). -
Death
On September 7, Tupac is shot multiple times in a drive-by shooting following a boxing match in Las Vegas. Six days later, Tupac dies on September 13 of complications from the gunshot. -
