  • Hokkaido Earthquake (Japan)

    Hokkaido Earthquake (Japan)
The Hokkaido earthquake was a 7.8 magnitude and around 250 deaths. The earthquake changed the landscape and ground displacement. The shocks traveled across the Pacific hitting the Hawaiian islands.
  • Papua New Guinea Earthquake (Papua New Guinea)

Papua New Guinea Earthquake (Papua New Guinea)
The Papua New Guinea earthquake was a 7.0 magnitude that took around 3 thousand lives. The epicenter was located under the Bismarck Sea. Some of the waves created by the shockwaves were over 50 feet high.

The earthquake was so long it went down in history as one of the longest, lasting around 10 minutes. Sulawesi Earthquake (Indonesia)
The Sulawesi earthquake was a 7.5 magnitude although small it took 5,000 lives. The earthquake caused major liquefaction in Palu, where the solids act like liquids due from the shaking of an earthquake, which is extremely rare. Officials notified residents of a possible earthquake coming within the next hour, but the tsunami unexpectedly hit in 6 minutes after the earthquake.
