Created by an 8.6 magnitude earthquake. Waves were about 60 ft tall and the tsunami killed around 30,000 people. -
Lisbon Tsunami
A magnitude 9 earthquake caused a tsunami that killed around 60,000 in Lisbon, Portugal. -

An 8.5 magnitude earthquake that hit the Peru-Chile Trench. Multiple waves ensued with the tsunami. The second wave was estimated to be 90 ft. Approximately 25,000 people died. -

Aleutian Island Earthquake (1946)
A 7.4 magnitude earthquake that caused a portion of the seafloor to uplift along the fault. The uplift caused the tsunami. The tsunami also effected Scotch Cap (135 ft. wave and killed 5 people) and Hawaii (max 55 ft. with 159 deaths). -
Valdivia Tsunami
The earthquake that caused the tsunami had a 9.5 magnitude. The tsunami had waves that reached a height of 80 ft on the Chilean coastline. Death total was not confirmed; however, it is approximated at 1,600 people. 2 million were left homeless and 3,000 were injured. -
Sumatra Tsunami
Caused by a 9.3 magnitude earthquake. Within 15 minutes of the earthquake, the tsunami began. Waves were between 80-100 ft. Over 230,00 died, or presumably died, as a result. -
Pangandaran Tsunami
An undersea earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 caused this tsunami. The waves were about six feet high. 530 were reportedly killed. -
Northern Japan Tsunami
A 9 magnitude earthquake caused the tsunami. The earthquake and tsunami have apparently caused $300 billion in damage. Approximately 19,000 people were killed or reported missing as a result of the disaster.
