    Lisbon Portugal Tsunami
    The (-M9) 1755 Lisbon, Portugal earthquake produced a tsunami that, along with the earthquake and resulting fire, killed an estimated 20,000 people. Tsunami waves that crossed the Atlantic Ocean amplified to heights of 7 meters or more in the West Indies. This earthquake demolished many public buildings and destroyed 12,000 dwellings. It occured in the Kingdom of Portugal.
