He wed the princess of Denmark. Which was originally his brothers wife, but when Tsar Alenxander iii's brother was on his deathbed he insisted that he marry his wife.

Tsar Alexander iii was badly shaken by his father's death. Because of this his discisions were strongly affected. -

The "Peoples Will" successfully assassinated Tsar Alexander iii's father in 1881. They had planned numerous but unsuccessful assassinations of Tsar Alexander iii. Aleksandr Ulyanov (one of the conspirators) was caught during one of the attempts and then later sentenced to death, and then hung. -
Imperial Train derailed
The train derailed when Tsar Alexander iii and his family were eating dinner. Tsar Alexander iii lifted off the roof of the car (after they wrecked) so that the family could get out. This happened on the Borki train when the family was on route to Saint Petersburg from Crimea. -
Tsar Alexander iii died
He survived many assasination attempts but ended up dieing from Nephritis. -
Nicholas ii succeeded
After Tsar Alexander iii died his son Nicholas ii took over his spot as russian tsar.
