Miranda just bought her newborn, Sally home. She has been attending to her needs, feeding and caring for her. Whenever she cries, she would pick her up. In Erikson's first stage, trust vs. mistrust, the crisis is between a child learning that the world is a place that's trustworthy or that the world is a place that's dangerous with little compensation.
  • Initiative vs. Guilt

    Initiative vs. Guilt
As part of the cheerleading squad, Sally (17) wants to create a lifting, cheer slogan for the football team at their next upcoming game. Her parents had allowed the whole team to practice their new cheer at her house. In Erikson's third stage, initiative vs. guilt, the crisis is between taking an initiative to plan an activity with encouragement from others or being declined of the opportunity to make suggestions.
  • Generatively vs. Stagnation

    Generatively vs. Stagnation
Sally (age 25) just graduated from college with a degree in social work. Now that she has graduated, she decided to quit her job at a cafe to pursue her dream career in the social work field. A few weeks later, she started her new job at the Health and Social Services, working in the child welfare section. In Erikson's seventh stage, generatively vs. stagnation, the crisis is between extending help to others or focusing on oneself.
