    Victoria is 10 months old, she is learning to walk. Vistoria's mother encourages her to take steps with clapping and shouting when Victoria takes a step, and is always there to catch Victoria if she falls.     Autonomy vs Shame
    Alyssa is 2 years old and said her first complete phrase, " No, I do it!" Alyssa was playing with a toy and got 'unput' so her mom tried to assist her with some help to out toy back tegether. Alyssa did not feel like she needed help. Mom let Alyssa have it her way this time, since this is a show that Alyssa is learning independence and how to solve her own problems.

    Competence vs Inferiority
    Mac is 10 years old, he has joined the ski team at his school to compete at a state level and everyone tells him how great of a skier he is. Mac's best friend, Molly who has never been skiing. Mac told his dad that he wanted to help Molly to learn how to ski because he wants her to have the same chances he has when it comes to sports. Even tough Mac is a great skier, he has not let that get in the way his friendship with Molly, to the contarary he wants Molly to have the same chances(modesty)

    Valeria is 9 years old and she is started to play softball at school. Valeria told her mom that her coach picked her because she has shown a great sense of leadership and at the same time she knows to play as team. While growing up, Valeria was thought by her parents that is okay to lead or take initiative on games with kids, but she also needed to not be aggressive or annoying towards others.
