Paris, himself, has been killed by the Greek hero, Philoctetes.
So, basically, death is everywhere, and everybody's getting pretty darn sick of this awful war.
Still, though, both the Trojans and the Greeks are too stubborn to call it quits Then Odysseus comes up with an plan to make a huge horse for a deception.
That is ultimately the reason why they won. -

Lotus Eaters
A storm sent by Zeus sends them along for nine days before bringing them to the land of the Lotus-eaters, where the natives give some of Odysseus's men the intoxicating fruit of the lotus. As soon as they eat this fruit, they lose all thoughts of home and want nothing more than to stay there eating more fruit. -

When Odysseus and his crew run across a Cyclops' deserted cave, his men want to steal, but Odysseus won't let them.
Instead, he wants to treat the Cyclops like a human being and play the part of good guests (more on that hospitality thing). So they burn an offering in the monster's cave and wait for his return. -

Odysseus draws his sword to kill the Cyclops in his sleep, but he stops when he realizes that they can never escape the cave without the strength of the Cyclops to remove the gigantic rock at the entrance. -

Aeolus presents Odysseus with a bag containing all of the winds, and he stirs up a westerly wind to guide Odysseus and his crew home. Within ten days, they are in sight of Ithaca, but Odysseus's shipmates, who think that Aeolus has secretly given Odysseus a fortune in gold and silver, tear the bag open. -
