Altair 8800 released
The Altair was a simple computer with no monitor or keyboard. It had very little functions, but still sold very well. -
Apple 2 is invented
The Apple 2 was made by Steve Jobs and his team. This computer was a large success because it was a GUI. Many people could now easily use computers and it’s spreadsheet application, VisiCalc. -
IBM makes their first PC.
The IBM PC was the first personal computer to be widely adopted by industry. It was a large success mainly because of it's reliable Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet. -
Apple Macintosh released
The Apple Macintosh was an updated PC meant to be faster, more powerful and very easy to use. While it accomplished these goals, it was too expensive and didn’t have a defining application to make it very successful. -
Windows 3 released
Windows 3 was a graphical environment made by Microsoft to be used with PC’s. It’s design and cheaper cost made it triumph over the Apple Macintosh. -
Windows 95 released
Windows 95 was the new and improved operating system by Microsoft. Bill Gates made the system which had many new features to make it a big success.
