  • Treaty of Versailles

    The Treaty of Versailles was the most important of the peace treaties that brought World War I to an end. The Treaty ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers. It was signed on 28 June 1919, exactly five years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.

  • Hyper Inflation

    prices rise so fast that it gets out of control. Price of bread in Germany.

  • Beerhall Putsch

    All of the men go to a hall to drink beer. When they get there, there were police and soldiers ready to arrests them. This happened because there was a snitch.

  • Hitler on trail

    Uses trail to give huge speech further blaming Jews for problems of Germany.

    The president was a popular war hero named Hindenburg. But his health began to fail him in the early 1930's.

  • Anne Frank is born

    Anne Frank was a German-born diarist. One of the most discussed Jewish victims of the Holocaust, she gained fame posthumously following the publication of The Diary of a Young Girl.

  • Chancellor

    In January 1933, Hitler is named Chancellor. He eliminated political rivals to be head of Nazis. He rises popularity of Nazis Hidenburg to give him some power.

    The Holocaust was a genocide were Adolf Hitler and the Nazis killed over 6 million Jews.

  • Reichstag Fire

    Hitler blames Communists for fire.

  • Enabling Act

    Basically gives power of decision making to Hitler. Within a few months, all other political parties besides the Nazis were eliminated. This allowed Hitler to get rid of all his rivals. At this time, we see an official boycott of Jewish business as well.

  • Nuremberg Laws

    Nazis needed a way to identify Jews so they could discriminate them. Nuremberg Laws defined people with 3 or 4 Jewish Grandparents as "Jewish" and 1 or 2 as "Mixed Blood"

  • Kristallnacht

    Kristallnacht also know as the night of broken glass, was a pogrom against the Jews.

  • Ghettos

    Nazis begin rounding up millions of Jews and confining them to Ghettos. Largest Ghettos were in cities like Warsaw or Lodz in Poland.

  • Euthanasia Program

    Systematically killing people deemed "unworthy of life" due to physical disability or mental illness.

  • Germany invades Poland (WWll started)

    "A World War will result in the destruction of the Jewish race in Europe;" Hitlers words

  • Wannasee Conference

    Nazi Leaders approve the "Final Solution" or plan to Exterminate The Jews.

  • Mr. Dussel moves into the Secret Annex

    Anne has to share a room and bed with Mr. Dussel, which she is not to happy about. Mr. Frank is caring enough to let someone stay in the Secret Annex.

    Death Marches

    Allies advancing toward death camps. Nazis evacuate prisoners, march them into Germany to avoid capture. Brutal treatment and harsh conditions along the way.

  • Secret Annex is discovered and captured by Nazis

    They find Anne's diary and belongs of the family.

  • Liberation of Concentration camps

    Soviet soldiers were the first to liberate concentration camp prisoners in the final stages of the war. On July 23, 1944, they entered the Majdanek camp in Poland, and later overran several other killing centers. On January 27, 1945, they entered Auschwitz and there found hundreds of sick and exhausted prisoners.

  • Liberation

    Camps throughout Europe are liberated by Allied forces.

  • What had happened to the survivors

    Displaced Persons Camps- Areas for former prisoners to stay while searching for family and a permanent place to live. They soon leaved Europe and went to Israel.

  • Hitler kills himself

    Hitler commits suicide rather than face capture be the Soviet Red Army. Germany surrenders within a week.

  • Anne's death is confirmed to Otto Frank

  • Mr.Frank returns to annex and finds Anne's Dairy

    Mr. Frank wants to burn Anne's dairy which he finds in the Annex, where they hide.

  • Anne Frank's family goes into hiding

    Since they do not want to get killed or hurt they go in to hiding.

    Neremberg Trails

    The Allies and the International Community put a number of Germans on trail for War Crimes, Crimes Against Peace and Crimes Against Humanity.

  • Zyklon B gas in tested at the Auschuitaz Birkenau camps, a use for mass extermination.
