  • Train services

    In the 1960s train services were becoming less used and cars were becoming more popular for the travel industry. Getting around in cars was what everyone was doing which lead most stations to have to close down. Nowadays the government is spending more time and money into making faster, more comfortable trains that go to more destinations. Having more comfort as you travel these longer distances and having many options as to where you can go has increased the train industries popularity.
  • Boeing 747 jetliner

    The Boeing 747 jetliner was introduced on January 22 1970. The first flight was from New York to London and carried 17 crew and 332 passengers. The Boeing 747 could hold up to 490 passengers and was growing popular in the travel industry. Providing many onboard services such as meals, comfortable seating, different onboard classes and onboard services that made the flight more enjoyable and growing more popular. The aircraft was able to get from A to B in a quicker time than other transport.
  • Low cost airlines

    In 1990 the airline 'Ryanair' became Europe's first lost cost airline. The low cost airlines became popular as more people were able to save money and go on a holiday. Having these lower costs meant that more people would go on holiday as they were spending less on flights and expenses for the holiday which helped tourism grow. The low cost airlines would go to the smaller cities as there was less charge from the airports which helped tourism in the smaller cities to grow and gain popularity.
  • High speed trains

    High speed trains were introduced by Virgin trains in 2018. The train was able to travel at a speed of 125 miles per hour and cut journey times such as London from Edinburgh by 20 minutes. Having this faster more efficient train helped people get to their destination faster and it grew popular as it saved a lot of time for those who needed to get to their destination in a faster time. Having more direct journeys to destinations and making overall train travel more easy and efficient.
