Exposition 1: Background
A city of trash, called Belhalla, sits on the outskirts of a large city. Belhalla's inhabitants scour the heaps of garbage every day for treasures and valuables. -
Exposition 2: Setting
The main setting of the book is a rich sector of Belhalla called Mckinley. This is where Raphael, Gordo, and Rat (Jun-Jun) live. -
Exposition 3: Characters
Raphel- a trash boy who finds a valuable wallet
Gardo- Raphael's friend and companion, who helps Raphael deal with the wallet
Rat or Jun-Jun- Rat is an ally to Gardo and Raphael who helps them both with the wallet

Rising action 1
Raphel finds a wallet in a bag with several thousand pesos. Raphael and his friend Gardo plan about what to do with it. -
Rising action 2
The next day, police come looking for the wallet. Raphael lies to the police to cover up for the wallet. At night, Rat helps Raphael and Gardo hide the wallet. -
Rising action 3
Rat realizes that a key in the wallet leads to a door in a train station. The boys plan to head to the train station the next day. -
Rising action 4
Rat, Raphael, and Gardo head to the train station, where they open the locker and obtain a mysterious package. -
Rising action 5
Raphael, Rat, and Gardo discover that Jose Angelico, the owner of the wallet, was a criminal of some sort. -
Rising action 6
Raphael is taken by police and interrogated for information on the wallet while being beaten within an inch of his life, but does not reveal any information. -
Climax
Raphael and Rat sneak into Senator Zapanata's house and learn of a conspiracy: the senator has been embezzeling money from the people. -
Falling action 1
Rat brings Raphael back to his home and tells him of a plan he has: to return to his birthplace, an island, buy a boat, and live a happy life forever fishing. -
Falling action 2
Raphael, Rat and Gardo hit the streets in order to try to either dethrone Zapanata or obtain some of his stolen money. The trio stays in hiding for several days. -
Falling action 4
The prison guard with the Bible leads them into a trap! However, the trio escapes the prison guard. -
Falling action 3
Gardo finds a special Bible that may lead to Zapanata's money in the posession of a prison guard. -
Falling action 5
Rat takes some money from the school, leaving no trace of himself but a shakily drawn picture. -
Resolution 1
Raphael, on the Day of the Dead, discovers that the Bible leads to where Senator Zapanata's money is-a cemetary. -
Resolution 2
When the trio heads to the cemetary, they find little Pia Dante, who they think is dead, because her coffin has the money in it. -
Resolution 3
Rat (now known as Jun-Jun), Raphael, and Gardo set off for a nearby island with their new money, giving some to the school, and live the rest of their lives fishing and growing flowers.
