My Lai Massacre
U.S. troops enter into a villiage of people searching for the Vietcong. They cant decifer people in the Vietcong from people not in the Vietcong so innocent cilivilians ended up getting killed. One U.S. soldier had to risk his own life to demand the stop of the firing. -

During a protest at Kent State University Nixon calls for the National Guard. The National Guard shows up and ends up firing into the crownd of people killing four students. -
26th Ammendment was Ratified
Young people wantred equality of political rights so the 26th Ammendment stated that 18 year olds were allowed to vote. This helped spread the message "Old enough to fight, old enough to vote". -

Informed Americans that American leaders sent troops to Vietnam without fully informing American people. It also revealed what happened at My lai. This turned even more Americans against the war. -
U.S. and NVA come to terms of peace
U.S. and the NVA come to terms with a peace settlement. Finally in January 1973 the U.S., NVA, South Vietnam, and the Vietcong signed the Paris Peace Accords. -

Bosnia is Recognized as Independent
Mostly Muslims inhabit this area. Milosevic attacks Sarajevothe capital of Bosnia killing many civilians among them 3,500 children. Muslims are ultimately outgunned. Muslims are rounded up and shot in mass numbers. Forced repopulation of cities occured causing rape of females. This was said to be "ethnic cleansing". UN responds with economic sanctions but no military response -

Authorizes humanitarian relief efforts in Somalia. Established UN operations in Somalia getting supplies where it needed to be . -

Providing relief for starving and dying Somalians without military interferrence. -
Operation Restore Hope
38,000 troops from 23 countries and reps from 49 humanitarian groups. U.S. Marine and Navy Seals arrive in Mogadishu to help secure the area. Mission was turned over because of it's success. -

Milosevic Wants Peace
Agreements were made on democratic elections. Two main portions the Bosnia Serb Republic and the Muslim-Croat Federation. War criminals were prosecuted. Overall 30 men were prosecuted for war offenses. Around 200,000 Muslim civilians are murdered as a result. Around 20,000 are missing or presumed dead and there are 2,000,000 refugees in all.
