Intro (please read!)
Hello and welcome to my space timeline assignment. Here you will learn how many moons are circling each dwarf planet and planets in our solar system. I hope you enjoy it! (also, the dates are fake so they are in order) Goofed proofed by Miss R. -

#1 Eris
Eris is the second largest dwarf planet in our solar system. It was discovered by a Palomar servaty-based team led by Mike Brown in 2005. In 2006 it was named after the Greek Goddess Eris. Eris has one moon known as Dysnomia. -
2
#2 Makemake
Makemake was found on March 31, 2005. It is beyond Pluto and It destroyed Pluto’s career as a planet because it used to be part of Pluto, then it split, making Pluto grow smaller. Makemake has one natural satellite known as S/2015(136472)1. -
3
#3 Earth
Yes, yes, our very own Earth. The Earth is the densest planet in our solar system. It is the only habitable (probably) planet in our solar system. The earth’s rotation is getting slower every day, about 0.01 second each day. In 23 million years, each day will be 25 hours. (that’s crazy!) It's moon is the moon -
4
#4 Hamea
Haumea was discovered in 2004. It was discovered by Mike Brown and a Palomar Observatory team. Haumea has two moons named namaka and hi’iaka. -
5
#5 mars
Mars is just about 200 million miles away from earth. Recently, we found water on it and it might be inhabited by molecules. Mars has 2 known moons, Phobos and Deimos. -
6
#6 Pluto
Pluto was named after the Roman god of the underworld. It was discovered on February 18th,1930 by the Lowell Observatory. It was classified a dwarf planet in 2006. It’s also the largest dwarf planet in our solar system. Pluto is 1/3 ice and has five known moons: Charon, Nix, Hydra, Styx, and Kerberos. -
7
#7 Neptune
Neptune is the farthest planet from the sun. It is the smallest gas giant in our solar system. Neptune has so much surface gravity its almost like Earth’s! Neptune has lots and lots of ice because it is the coldest planet in our solar system, if it wasn’t so far from the sun, it would probably have fish. Neptune has 14 known moons, Triton, Proteus, Nereid, Despina, Hippocamp, Thalassa, Galatea, Halimede, Neso Psamathe, Laomedia, Naiad, Sao and Larissa -
8
#8 Uranus
Uranus is the second farthest distance from the sun in our solar system. Uranus is probably the first planet found in our solar system besides the earth, obviously It’s the only planet in our solar system with a vertical ring. Uranus has 27 moons, but I will only say the first 10 moons, which are Umbreil, Titania, Oberon, Areil, Puck, Desdemoa, Cressida, Perdita, Setebos and Stephano. -
9
#9 Saturn
Saturn is the second biggest planet in our solar system. Some early astromers during 1957 thought that Saturn’s rings were moons! Saturn’s rings are made of some small and some large pieces of metal and all the garbage and junk in space. Saturn is the second biggest gas giant and the only planet in our solar system with visible rings. Saturn has 62 moons, (Holy Moley!) but I will only say the first five, Enceladus, Titan, Tethys, Mimas and Dione. -
10
#10 Jupiter
Jupiter is probably the most well-known planet besides our very own Earth. It is so big that all of the planets can fit inside it! But it is not the biggest thing in our solar system. It’s the fastest planet in all of our solar system, and believe it or not, Jupiter has rings! Jupiter is probably most well-known for its heavy storms and the great red spot. Jupiter has 67 moons but I will only say the first 3, they are Europa, Ganymede, Io. -
