Beirut is Destroyed
Lebanon's capital Berut is destroyed by an earthquake that is then followed by a tsunamis that disrtoys the city. Later Beirut is rebuilt. -

Tripoli Captured
Crusaders from Bertrand of Touluse capture Tripoli and it's surrounding areas to turn it into a county. The people were taken hostage and later they rebelled against Bertand of Touluse. After this Tripoli could be ruled by a foreign leader as long as the people didn't rebel against it. -
France helps Lebanon
France is granted the mandate to rule Lebanon and Syria by the League of Nations. France helped Lebanon with it's government and economy. -
Independence from France
During it's rule over Lebanon, France made many unfair laws that upset the Lebanese people. The Lebanese rebeled against France and after quite some time of fighting Lebanon gained independance on November 26, 1941. -
the 6 day war
The Six day war was between the countries of Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. The nations of Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Algeria sent soldiers and weapons to the Arab army. Lebanon was used as a military base for Palestinian and Israeli forces. Israel eventuly won the war and took over the Sinai Penensula. They Israel ended up giving it back to Egypt as a peace offering. -
Lebanon's civil war
The Lebanese Civil War was between Christians, Muslims, and Jews. The war started because Israeli refugees went into Lebanon and started getting involved in Lebanese politics. Some of the refugees caused conflicts with the Government. This made Lebanon upset which soon turned into a civil war. After a while the fighting was mostly in the southern part of Lebanon. At the end of the war more than 120,000 had been killed. Syria put troops in Lebanon during this time. -
Deadly Israeli attacks on Lebanon
Israel attacks a U.N. base and kills 100 Lebanese refugees. This upset the Lebanese Government.They started fighting back and forth trying to make the other country give in.The U.S tried to make peace between the two countries, but it was in vein. Lebanon and Israel argue even up to this day. -
Syria vs. Lebanon
Syria had many troops in Lebanon for quite a long time. Syria finally uithdrew 27,000 troops, leaving 14,00 troops still in Lebanon. The Lebanese wanted all the Syrian troops out. The Syrians did not leave and they had many clashes on the streets. In one of these clashes Syrian troops massacered many Lebanese people.This clash occured because a Lebanese person released videos with Syrian information that was classified. Even to this day Lebanon has no peace with Syria -
Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri assasinated
Prime Minister Rafik Hariri was driving down the street in his car. His car has been hooked to a bomb and it blew up while he was driving down the street the car blew up. This made the Anti-Syrians have rallies in Lebanon. Omar Karami resigned from his cabinet soon after the assasinaton. Assationations of Anti- Syrian figures now became a feature in political life. -
July War
The July war was between the countries of Israel and Lebanon. It started when Lebanon started firing missles on the border of Israel. The Israeli Air Force retaliated by bombing southern suburbs of Lebanon's capitol city, Beirut. The Israeli also bombed smaller tows in Lebanon to injure civilization and destroy Lebanon. The two countries kept at it like this and by the end of the war there were 1,300 Lebanes people killed and 165 Israeli perople died also.
