Alternative Certification Program
This is when I entered the alternative certification program at Tarleton State University to become a science teacher (after giving up a job at Southwest Research Institute as a petroleum chemistry). You have got to start somewhere... -

Tommie's Educational Career

Begin teaching at Mineral Wells HS (TX)
My first job was teaching physical science and chemistry at Mineral Wells High School in Mineral Wells , TX. It was an eye-opener. -
Began teaching at Corvallis High School (MT)
Two years in Texas prepared me but I needed adventure, skiing and mountains. Corvallis, MT (just south of MIssoula) was just what I needed to grow up and experience more of the world. -
Began teaching in Stavanger, Norway
This was the beginning of my international school adventure. I didn't have any idea how lucky I was to land this job at the International School of Stavanger. -
Moved to Caracas, Venezuela
This was when I began working at Escuela Campo Alegre and, not to be overlooked, where I met my wife! -
Moved to Dhaka, Bangladesh
After getting married we moved to Dhaka to work at the American International School/Dhaka. We were working here when our oldest son, Ross, was born. -
Moved back to Stavanger, Norway
I moved back to Stavanger, but this time as a husband and father. It was a completely different place. -
Took over as Middle and HIgh School principal in Stavanger
This was my big move into administration but it was actually probably one of the least important things that happened in those years. The most important was meeting my youngest son, Xiaolin, from China. -
Moved to Doha, Qatar
We all moved to Doha to work at Qatar Academy Senior School, where we remain until today. -
Where will go next? Who knows!
