Early Life
Tobias Vincent Maguire is an American actor and film producer who was born in Santa Monica, California, on June 27, 1975, to Wendy Brown and Vincent Maguire. He is one-eighth Austrian and one-eighth Puerto Rican. His parents, who were 18 and 20 years old at the time of his birth, were unmarried, the two married and divorced when Maguire was two. Maguire spent a large part of his childhood moving from town to town, living with each parent and other family members. -
Education
Tobey attended Santa Monica High School during his childhood. His mother offered him $100 to participate in a drama class, and he accepted. He dropped out of high school after another relocation for his freshman year and never returned. Instead, he pursued a career as an actor. He appeared in a few commercials and appeared on a few TV shows before landing a starring role in the Fox comedy Great Scott! (1992). He had completed his General Educational Development by the year 2000. -

Spider-Man
Maguire's days as the Holden-Caulfield-in-residence appeared to be over with the release of Spider-Man in 2002. Maguire, who was reportedly paid $4 million for the title role, transformed from nerdy teen Peter Parker to comic book hero Spider-Man. Kirsten Dunst and Willem Dafoe star in the film. The film netted $114 million in its first weekend, setting a box office record. -
Spiderman 2&3
Tobey returned to the role in the sequels Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007), as well as providing the voice of Spider-Man for the film's video game adaptations. All three films went on to be among the year's highest-grossing films. -
Personal Life
Maguire met jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer while filming Seabiscuit at Universal Studios in 2003, and the couple got engaged in April 2006. In November of that year, their first child, a daughter, was born. Maguire and Meyer got married in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, on September 3, 2007. In May 2009, their second child, a son, was born. After nine years of marriage, the couple announced their divorce on October 18, 2016. Meyer filed for divorce in 2020, after four years of separation. -
