Hariet tubman escaped from slavery and is one of the underground railroad leaders. She made an underground railroad so that slaves can escape. -
Emancipation Proclamation
When President Abraham Lincoln believed that all slaves should be free. But not all the slaves were free. It only freed the ones that were under UNION CONTROL. -
The 13th Amendment was passed
Slavery was offially abolished. And they made an amendment to the constitution. -
The 14th amendment was passed
The 14th amendment declares that everyone who was born in the US or was raised in the US gets a citizenship. -
The 15th Amendment was passed
The 15th amendment states that every US citizen(man) is granted with voting rights. -
Jim Crow Laws
The Jim Crow Laws were are racial system against black people. They had anit-black laws and they were mostly 'equal but seperate'. -
Women's voting rights
Colorado was the first state to grant women the right to vote. Women were not allowed to vote and this law was only valid in Colorado(at the moment) -
Seperate But Equal: P vs F
A Mixed race man was arrested for sitting in the 'white' section of a railroad car. The man was mostly white: he loked white its just that he was half colored and so he got arrested. It was seperate nut not equal. -
The Great Depression
The Great Depression developed in the US, but slowly it turned into a "world wide economic slump". There was a massive drought in the US by the name of the Dust Bowl. Most of the population was the farmers.But with the drought there aren't that many crops. -
The Scottsboro Trial
The Scottsboro Trial is when 9 colored teenagers were accused of raping 2 white women on a train. One of them escaped and three were paroled. -
Brown vs. B.O.E
Brown v. BOE is basically a case in which a girl was not allowed to have admission to her local elementary schoola and there was a case to end de-segregation in all schools. -
BUS BOYCOTTS
An African-American women by the name of Rosa Parks was arrested for sitting on a seat ment for a white person. She refused to get off the chair and because of that she was arrested. Again the seperate but equal comes into place. -
MLK Junior- "I Have A Dream"
Martin Luther King Junior gave his wonderful speech by the name of 'I Have A Dream'. His speech is about freeing the colored. Stopping segregation. Living a better life for everyone. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
The Civil Rights Act is declaring the end to all discrimination We are all equal. It is illegeal to dicriminate. Everyone has freedom, eqaulity and the pursuit of happiness. -
Voting Rights act of 1965
This act says that there are no dicrimninative restrictions on voting. We al have to right to vote and we have the right to be free. -
MLK Jr.'s Assasaination
Martin Luther King Junior had been assainated in memphis. He was assainated by a gun in the morning while he was at a motel.
