Dill Comes to Maycomb
Today, Dill first arrives to Maycomb, Alabama. At first, Jem and Scout question Dill, but he is soon accepted and becomes a part of their every day activities. Dill is a very curious boy, and soon gains intrest in the Radley home. Jem explains to him how Boo Radley is a scary man, but Dill is unfased and that just temps him even more. -
Tom Robinson
Tom Robinson is accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Tom is black and Mayella is white, so this is considered a very big deal. Also, Atticus is chosen to defend Tom. -
School Arrives, and Dill Leaves
Dill leaves Maycomb to return to his home back in Meridian, Mississippi, and shortly afterwards, school begins. Scout has a rough time because the new teacher doesn't know any of the families of Maycomb. When Scout tries to explain that the Cunningham's don't accept charity, she gets in trouble. -
Summer Begins Again
Summer begins again, and Jem and Scout start to find gifts left in a tree next to the Radley house. Scout does not realize it, but Jem knows that Boo is the one leaving those gifts. He knows that Boo has been watching them, and that maybe he isn't such a scary person as the rumors say. -
Boo's House
Jem and Dill become curious and decide to go to the Radley house and look inside a window. Scout comes along, despite her fear. The trio ends up running away, and Jem loses his pants in the process. Later, Jem goes back to retrieve them, and finds that they are mended and folded over the fence. -
Tom Robinson's Case
Tom's case begins. It goes on for a while, and everyone in the court house knows that Tom is innocent, but because he is black, he is convicted and sent to jail. He later tries to escape, but is shot 17 times and is killed. -
Mr. Ewell Dies
There was a school play and Scout was a ham, and was embarrassed to go home. So, they wait untill everyone has left to go home. On their way, Mr. Ewell attacks them. Jem is knocked unconcious and has a broken arm. Then, Boo saves them and stabs Bob Ewell in the ribs. Boo also carries Jem back home. -
Meeting Boo
After Boo carried Jem back to his house, the doctor came along with Heck Tate. The doctor said that he was unconcious with a badly broken arm, but that Jem would be alright. They asked scout who it was that carried him home, and Scout pointed to the man in the corner also known as Boo Radley. Scout then walks Boo home and when she stands on his porch, she finaly understands what Atticus meant when he said "you need to climb into their skin and walk around in it."
