The side of the Titanic scrapes along the iceberg. Captain Smith arrives on the deck and is told that the ship has struck an iceberg. Shortley after he was told that the mail room was filled with water. Other reports come of water being in 5 of the ships compartments. -
Californian stuck in ice
The nearby Californian radiosthe Titanic: " Say, old man, we are stuck and surrounded by ice." An annoyed Phillips said: "Shut up! Shut up! I am busy." -
The Titanic sinking
The sinking of the Titanic was a horrible event. It took nearly two hours for the vessel to sink completely, and by 2:20 am the Titanic was at the bottom of the Ocean. -
Last survivors
The Carpthia picks up the survivors from the las life boat. On April 18 she got to New York with 705 survivors.
