    On August 2nd, 1776, the Declaration of Independence would be signed. This would establish the United States of America.

    On September 3rd, 1783, the American Revolution would come to an end with the Treaty of Paris. This would recognize America as a Free Nation, and grant the new nation land east of the Mississippi River.
  • Signing of the Constitution

    On September 17, 1787, the American Constitution was signed. This would give the first 10 amendments, along with the base structure for the American Government.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    During 1803, American diplomats would negotiate a land sale with France. This exchange, known as the Louisiana Purchase, would almost double the United State's current land size.
  • Beginning of the War of 1812.

    On June 18th, 1812, after an embargo and impressment from the British Navy, the United States would declare war on Great Britain. This begins a 3 year war known as the War of 1812.

    On December 24, 1814, diplomats from France, the USA, and Great Britain had finished and signed the Treaty of Ghent. This would end the War of 1812.
  • Missouri Compromise

    In 1820, a law was passed to temporarily settle a debate regarding slavery in new states. The objective was to balance the ratio and powers between free and slave states.
  • Compromise of 1850

    Compromise of 1850
    In 1850, a law was passed to once again balance the ratios and powers between free and slave states. The most notable part of the law would be the Runaway Slave Act, allowing escaped slaves to be returned to their owners, regardless if they are in a free or slave state.
  • Dred Scott Decision

    Dred Scott Decision
    In 1857, the Dred Scott case would reach a final decision, one of the first civil rights cases in American History. The verdict would deny black people citizenship, and consider the Missouri Compromise unconstitutional.
  • Election of 1860

    Election of 1860
    In 1860, Abraham Lincoln would win the general public and electoral college vote, making him the 16th president of the United States. Unfortunately for Lincoln, he would be elected when tensions among Americans would reach a boiling point.
