Billy Bishop and the War in the Air (-2)
No progress was made because they literally couldn’t even fly and land a plane properly. Plane captains were trying to kill each other because they were enemy’s. (This was an economic change) -

To What Degree Does This Time Period Represent a Period of Progress or Decline?
-
Francis Pegahmagabow and First Nations soldiers (+1)
There were many good role models fighting in the war, and all of those men could pull through- risking their lives and leaving everything behind. (This was a political change) -
Leo Le Boutillier, Thomas-Louis Tremblay and French-Canadian Soldiers (+1)
They went from not being promoted because they couldn’t speak English, to higher rank promotions, and only 0.08% of them were wounded or killed in the battles shows. (This was a social change) -
Jeremiah Jones and Black Canadian Soldiers (0)
Not much progress was being made at all because only one black male was able to prove himself to everyone while the rest of them still had to face discrimination. (This was a social change) -
Women and the home front (-2)
Although this allowed many women to be employed, and they could vote- it also overwhelmed them as they were supposed to be working for more than half of the day and caused a food shortage. They weren’t treated and payed properly. (This was a political change) -
The economy and the home front (0)
This affected many Canadians because many of them didn’t have that big of a salary- and on top of that, they had to pay tax. People got personal income tax, and they were then expected to pay a certain amount of tax depending on their annual salary. (This was an economic change) -
Enemy aliens and the home front (-2)
Just because they were Canadians from the enemy’s countries, they were treated like they were also the enemy- but, they were just innocent Canadians like everyone else. When they were sent away, many of them died from sicknesses, getting killed while trying to escape, suicide, and other reasons. (This was a political change) -
French Canadians and the home front (-1)
This law that you had to go to war if you were between ages of 20-45 was only enforced because there weren’t enough men to go to war soon. Also, because many men didn’t want to go to war- so they had to be forced. Many Canadians didn’t agree with being forced to go to war though. (This was a political change) -
Mae Belle Sampson, Katherine MacDonald and Nurses Overseas (0)
There was progress being made but not too much because a lot of nurses lost their lives in the process of helping or trying to help the injured troops. (This was a political change) -
War Artists (-1)
This didn’t have any progress made because how did that even help the soldiers in any way? All these people were doing was making names for themselves and only themselves. (This was a social change)
