First American Colony
The first American colony was founded by men and boys seeking refuge and desiring to start a new settlement away from Britain. The settlement was then named Jamestown after King James I. Three ships led the initial expedition called Godspeed, Susan Constant, and the Discovery. -
Founding of Quebec
French explorer and navigator Samuel de Champlain founded Quebec while travelling to find new territory in 1608. He was the first to make an accurate map of the coast and commanded a string of French colonies in Canada. -
The Bohemian Revolt
One of the 4 phases of the 30 year war. A group of Protestants threw 2 Catholic counselors out of a window to symbolize that they would no longer put of with religious persecution. The two key relations in effect were Bohemia and the Habsburg Dynasty starting the Bohemian revolt. This symbolizes just how many countries were actually enduring religious persecution, not just in Britain. -
Pilgrim Arrival to America
The Pilgrims arrival to America all began due to the religious persecution taking place in Britain. The Mayflower first took sail from Plymouth, England in September with 102 passengers. They later landed in Massachusetts and began forming their own colony. -
King Phillips War
This was a war due to the tensions taking place between New England colonists and the Wampanoag Indians. After Phillip's father died, Chief Massasoit, tensions were high. The Indians simply wanted to keep some of their land without feeling threatened. The war raged up and down the Connecticut River until Phillip was eventually hunted down in 1676 and beheaded.

St. Petersburg was discovered by Russia's Peter the Great. This opened up year long trade and is currently Russia's capital. -
Beginning of French and Indian War
France and Britain fight for 7 years starting in 1754 over Canadian territory. Many Native Americans chose to fight with the French while the colonists sided with Britain. This war is also referred to as the 7 Years war in Britain. -
Treaty of Paris is Signed
The signing of the Treaty of Paris was the ending result of the French and Indian War. France, Great Britain, and Spain all sign this treaty. The treaty stated that France would give up all American ties and remove military forces. -
John Quincy Adam's birth
John Quincy Adam's was born in Braintree, Massachusetts. He is the second child of John and Abigail Adams and later became the 6th president of the United States. -
Boston Tea Party
There were high tensions between the American Colonists and Britain as there were acts being put on almost every good entering Boston Harbor. Colonists dressed up as Indians and dumped 340 chests of tea into the ocean symbolizing their rebellion against the tea act and proving that the Americans no longer need goods from Britain if they were going to be unfairly taxed. -
1st Continental Congress
Fifty-five American representatives met to discuss their current relations with Britain. This was the first discussion leading to the idea of freedom from British rule and the hope for a peaceful separation from their mother country. -
American War for Independence Begins
This was a resulting conflict between the 13 American colonies and Britain due to tensions because of desired independence. The American colonies had begun rising in power economically and population wise and desired to not be ruled by the British country any longer. The war lasted until September 3, 1783 when the British discontinued their fight for dominance. -
French Revolution
This was a period of time in which there was much social upheaval in France due to the enlightenment period and faulty ruling under Louis XVI. This revolution was led by Napoleon in his attempt to expand France. It all started with the attack on Bastille, but later led to the destruction of the French monarchy system due to Napoleon's tyrannical ruling. -

John Quincy Adams was the first American diplomat to work as a minister to Russia. He was initially sent to St. Petersburg to work on building strong ties/ alliances between Russia and the United States at the age of 14. Later he became the minster to Netherlands and Portugal becoming one of America's "most valuable officials abroad" (Saint-Petersburg.com). -
Treaty of Ghent
This was the treaty that ended the war of 1812. The Treaty of Ghent was meant to settle the argument over the boundary between Canada and the United States. John Quincy Adams was one of 5 commissioners sent to the Netherlands to discuss issues. -

The Battle of Fort Sumter was the start of the Civil War due to the invasion of Confederate troops in Charleston, South Carolina. The fort was a place of much tension between the Union and the Confederacy.
