After the Vietnam war, my parents escaped war-torn Laos and landed in Thailand, where I was born in a refugee camp. -

We spent the first decade of our lives living in public housing, in a ward that is known as a historically African-American neighborhood. -

My parents bought their first home in first-ring suburban Roseville to be close to the church where my dad ministered. -

I moved away to go to college in the rural south. -

Since returning from college in Tennessee, I've lived in various parts of the Twin Cities - including: Maplewood, White Bear Lake, Woodbury, St. Paul (east side), Minneapolis (Southeast Como), Roseville, and Little Canada. Each of these respective cities have their own unique and rich cultural backgrounds. I've moved around a lot.
