Timeline Of WW1

  • Soviets were under Stalin's control.

    There were mass arrests made by the secret police. Over 700,000 people had been killed by his "purges".
  • Hitler decided to invade Poland.

    He started making plans at his summer house.
  • Non Aggression Pact with Stalin

    The deal that he made with Stalin allowed him to invade Poland without angering and going to war with the Soviet Union.This surprised and outraged the rest of the world. It also scared the governments because they were scared that Germany would invade them next
  • There was a secret clause in the agreement.

    The secret clause was that at the end of the war they would split and share eastern Europe.
  • Hitler invaded Poland.

    During the coming months after Hitler invaded Poland, Britain then declared war on Germany because of the German troops in Poland. They gave an ultimatum to Germany and when that was ignored they proceeded to declare war on Germany. Warsaw was bombed and many people killed.

    On May 10th 1940, Germany stormed into France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Denmark and Norway had already been captured. They raided and searched peoples houses looking for weapons.

    On the 17th of June 1940 the French asked Germany for amnesty after the war.
  • September 7th

    By September 1940 Germany had successfully conquered Poland

    Germany started bombing London.

  • Breaking the Pact

    In the spring of 1941 Hitler decided that he wanted more power and more land under his control. He decided to break the non aggression pact that he had made with Stalin. He decided to invade the Soviet Union.
  • Germany VS Russia

    On June 22nd 1941 Germany went to war against Russia. This was a violation of the pact that Hitler had made with Stalin. In this war there were over 3000 tanks. The battle lines stretched from the Baltic sea to the Black sea.
