  • Treaty of Versailles

    Treaty of Versailles
    The Treaty of Versailles was written in 1919 after World War 1. It was written to prevent another world war and it was directed towards Germany. Germany was blamed for World War 1 by the League of Nations. The Treaty of Versailles forced Germany to give their land to other European nations that won the Great War, remove their military and were banned from every forming another, and they also had to pay for all the reparations caused by WWI.
  • Hitler Takes Control

    Hitler Takes Control
    Hitler comes to power by seeking to the people of Germany. He wrote short essays and gave public speeches in beer halls. He proposed the Jews were to blame for the economic depression, weak government, and social shame. Many people were mesmerized and inspired by Hitler. By 1932, the Nazi Party became the largest political party in Germany. Hitler became the chancellor of Germany. Hitler also silenced a lot of political rights and freedoms of the German people.
  • Invasion of Rhineland

    Invasion of Rhineland
    Germany marched into the Rhineland, which violated the Treaty of Versailles' rule of giving their land and rebuilding a military. Great Britain and France didn't know what to do and instead of fighting back, the League of Nations allowed Germany to control the Rhineland in exchange for peace.
  • Anschluss

    Anschluss
    Hitler announces the union between Germany and Austria. Hitler takes total control of Austria and the chancellor of Austria thought that siding with Hitler would prevent a German invasion in their country.
  • Munich Pact

    Munich Pact
    The Munich Pact was signed by Hitler in September of 1938 as a promise to stop invading countries and to not start another World War. As a trade, the League of Nations let Hitler keep the Rhineland, Austria, and Czechoslovakia.
  • Invasion of Czechoslovakia

    Invasion of Czechoslovakia
    After Adolf Hitler signed the Munich Pact, he sent German troops marching into Czechoslovakia to seize control over the country.
  • Nazi-Soviet Pact

    Nazi-Soviet Pact
    The Nazi Soviet pact was when Hitler and Stalin signed an agreement to not start a war against each other and to become allies and control Poland together. The people did not know that Nazi Germany and Soviet were going to invade Poland which was kept a secret between both leaders. This decision broke Nazi Germany's agreement in the Munich Pact with the League of Nations. The League of Nations had failed to control Hitler and stop him from causing another World War.
  • Invasion of Poland & Start of WWII

    Invasion of Poland & Start of WWII
    Germany invaded Poland and within weeks, the Polish army were defeated. Germany attacked with force by bombing civilians. Great Britain and France sided with Poland and declared war on Germany on September 3, 1939. The Soviet Union invaded eastern Poland on September 17, 1939. This marked the start of the second World War.
