A big part of the Second Great Awakening, which hightened in 1820, was the feminization of religion, in terms of church membership and theology. It challengged Women's traditional roles in religion. Women made up the majority of new church members. Evengelicals preached a gospel of female spiritual worth. -

Married Women's Property Act
New York passed this act, giving women the right to retain property they brought before marriage, as well as property they acquired during the marriage. It also allowed women to take property as inheritance or a gift and keep it as there own. -
Senaca Falls Convention
Feminists met at Senaca Falls in New York in July 1848 for a feminist convention. Elizbeth Cady Stanton read a "Declaration of Sentiments" which declared all men and women are created equal, and formally demanded the ballot for females.
