Timeline of the Revolution

  • Fighting at Concord and Lexington

    A battle between the minutemen and militia had occurred leaving eight minute men killed and ten injured. The first battle only lasted 15 minutes then the British had marched to Concord where they were quickly slaughtered by a large group of minutemen, this had caused the British to retreat.
  • Second continental congress

    Colonial leaders had met in Philadelphia to debate their next move. Some called for reconcilitaion with the British while others called for independance from Britain.
  • The battle of bunker hill

    Thomas Gage sent redcoats up an hill but were quickly mowed down by american forces. Colonists had lost 450 men while Redcoats lost over a 1000.
  • Seizing New York

    The British invaded New York with over 32,000 soldiers and a few mercenaries. They managed to push colonists back to Pennsylvania.
  • Americans surround Burygoyne

    American troops surround Burygoyne at Saratoga and he surrendered to the American troops.
  • French reinforcements

    Marquis de lafayette arrived with french forces to help in the effort against the british.
  • British surrender

    Cornwallis was eventually surrounded by french and american forces and had all sea routes cut off.
  • Treaty of paris

    This document was signed by U.S delegates with confirmed U.S independence and had set boundaries.
