Proclamation Line of 1763
This created a boundary between the Appalachian Mountains intended to keep the colonists out. However, most colonists just ignored this and went over the boundary. Although Britain tried to keep more troops on the border, the British could not keep out the colonists. -
The Sugar Act
This act would make the price per pound of sugar 3 pence. Many colonists believed that this affected their freedoms and protested against it. The British government eventually repealed this act in 1766. -
The Currency Act
This act regulated paper money in the colonies. This created even more tension between Britain and the colonies, as colonists were not happy about this bill. The British Parliament eventually repealed the bill in 1774. -
The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act affected all printed documents in the colonies. This act was heavily opposed by the colonies. The Stamp Act was eventually repealed in 1766. -
The Townshend Acts
These acts were an tax upon the colonies that taxed imports to colonial America. Britain believed that more people wanted British imports rather than local sources. However, more people bought local because of these acts. These acts did create British control of Boston which eventually ended in the Boston Massacre.
