Timeline of Nintendo

  • NES (Nintendo Entertainment System)

    In 1985 Nintendo took the world by storm with their launch of the "Nintendo Entertainment System". Along with this system was their original games, one of which being Super Mario Bros.
  • Original Gameboy

    In 1989 Nintendo's (and the worlds) first ever handheld gaming device was launched, known to all as the "Gameboy". It had several cartridges for games, that were able to be swapped out at will.
  • Nintendo 64

    Originally launched in Japan in 1996, the Nintendo went on to sell millions of Nintendo 64 of systems. This system added games to already started series such as "Donkey Kong".
  • Nintendo DS

    In 2005 the Nintendo DS was launched. As a huge upgrade on the Gameboy, this device allowed for two types of cartridges, a stylus and a touch screen.
  • Wii

    In 2006 the Wii was launched. Over the next few years it would gain a huge rise in popularity. The games were different and more entertaining the controllers allowed you to be active and in 2008 the release of the Wii Balance Board added to all of the above.
  • Nintendo Switch

    In 2017 the Nintendo Switch launched. This is the most recent gaming console that Nintendo has released. It combines handheld gaming and console gaming. There is nothing else like it on the market. It allows you to play Nintendo's newest and oldest games.
