Versailles Treaty
Treaty of Versailles is made declaring Germany defeated. Germany has to give territory to France, Poland, Denmark, and Belgium. Also limited to an army of 100,000 men. Also has to pay reparations. It was made a Versailles.

League of Nations
The U.S. created the league of nations, but did not join. It was made in order to keep peace. It was founded at the Paris Peace Conference. It didn't do much, and caused more discontent. Sources:

Communist International
The Comintern has leverage to split European Socialist parties. They then create a communist party in each country to try and spread communism. By the 1920s most are ready to serve Moscow. Occurred in the Autumn of 1920.

Fascism in Italy
Mussolini is on the rise and eventually becomes Prime Minister of Italy. His authoritarian government set up a model to try and direct people to imitate. He isn't in control and does not have a major role in Diplomacy until 1929. A lot of people liked it, but did not benefit workers that much, and did upset them a bit.

There are good vibes about European international relationships. There are major agreements about reparations and confirm frontiers to ease things for Germany. Germany was also admitted to the League of Nations.

Stalin has the power in Russia
Joseph Stalin defeats his final rival for power after after Lenin's death. Stalin's rise to power brought forced industrialization, brutal police repression and purges, a skeptical attitude to outside world, and some control over foreign communist parties.

The Great Depression
The american stock market crashed and caused a world wide depression. It was at its worst in Europe from summer of 1931 to the end of 1932.

Japan invades Manchuria
Japan goes to war against China in Manchuria. The League of Nations attempted to restrain Japan to prevent further violence, but fails, which showed international vulnerability.

The Third Reich
Hitler becomes the chancellor of Germany. He and his Nazi party in full command for a few months. He will eventually lead Germany to World War II.

Germany becomes isolated
The Third Reich causes Germany to leave the disarmament conference and League of Nations. Shows that Germany is less friendly with other nations, and will probably cause another world war.
