Childhood
When George was eleven years old, his father Augustine died, leaving most of his property to George's younge adult brothers. As the oldest of Mary's children, he mostly helped his mother manage the Rappahannock River plantation where they lived. Over there he learned the importance of hard work and efficiency.

George Washington’s Education and First Job
Washington was educated in basic subjects including writing, reading and math, he didn’t attend college. George finished his formal schooling at age 15. As a teenager, George had shown a talent for math and became a successful surveyor. Early military career of George
George’s two elder brothers John Washington and Lawrence Washington were in the military but after Lawrence’s death, Lieut. Gov. Robert Dinwiddie decided that George adjutant for the southern district of Virginia at £100 a year (November 1752). Marriage for George
On January 6, 1759, George Washington and Martha Dandridge Custis married, she was 27 years old and from the Tidewater area of Virginia. When Martha’s first husband Daniel Parke Custis died she was control of the property (in the form of land and enslaved people). Constitutional Convention
In 1787, Washington ended his self-imposed retirement and traveled to Philadelphia to attend a meeting assembly to recommend changes to the Articles of Confederation. George’s death
At midnight on 14,1799, December George Washington passed away. He was surrounded by people who were close to him including his wife who was sitting next to him, his friends, enslaved housemaids who stood in the room throughout the day. According to his wishes, Washington was not buried for three days.On December 18, 1799 a solemn funeral was held at Mount Vernon and he was laid to rest in the family tomb.
