The Pac-12, later nicknamed the "Conference of Champions" for its athletic prowess, forms.
  • SEC Forms

The Southeastern Conference, widely regarded as the most dominant football conference today, forms.
  • Atlantic Coast Conference

Another modern-day Power 5 conference emerges in the southern United States.
  • Southwest Conference Folds, Big 8 Becomes Big 12

  • NIL Era Begins

NCAA loses its Supreme Court case, essentially forcing them to allow college athletes to profit off of their name, image, and likeness, something they hadn't ever been allowed to do before. With money's importance amplified, this starts to shift the college football landscape as big programs left out of the Big Ten and SEC start to look for ways to join them to share the revenue they enjoy every year.

USC and UCLA announce their future move to the Big Ten, now scheduled for July 2024. The Pac-12 loses two of its most valuable brands.
  • Oregon and Washington Jump to the Big Ten

Oregon and Washington announce their future move to the Big Ten, now scheduled for July 2024. The Pac-12 collapses as schools like Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, and Colorado jump to the Big 12.
  • Pac-12 Plays its Final Season

The Pac-12 plays its final football season. Washington makes it all the way to the national championship but falls to future conference foe Michigan. The conference is now defunct with all of the former members going their separate ways.
