Catherine was born in Germany, city of Stettin in Prussian Pomerania. Her parents are Christian Augustus, Prince of Anhalt-Zerbst, and Princess Johanna Elizabeth of Holstein-Gottorp. Catherines birth name was Sophia Frederica Augusta. -

Catherine came to Russia
Catherine, as Sophia got invited to come to Russia with her mother and meet her bridegroom. -
Was renamed into Catherine Alexeyevna after Catherine I.
Right after ariving to Russia, Sophia had to be baptized into Orthodox church and recieve a new name Catherine Alexeyevna. Elizabeth wanted that name because it was her mothers Catherine I name. -
Got married to Empress Elizabeth's nephew Peter III
At age of 15, Catherine got married to Peter III. Their marriage was decided upon their respective families, so that marriage was not the happiest one. And later on they still couldn't get used to each other. -
Elizabeth of Russia Died
Empress that made Catherine come to Russia to marry her nephew Peter III and give birth to a heir of Elizabethan throne. Elizabeth died in January, 1762. -
Catherine was proclaimed empress of Russia
After Empress Elizabeth had died, Peter III came to power and wanted to get rid of his wife and send her away to a monastery. However Catherine had a support of the public and the army, so she was able to get proclaimed as an Empress of Russia on July 9, 1762. -
Formed a commission
Catherine formed a commission to review Russia's Laws. Everyone could participate in commission, your status in the world didn't matter there, except for serfs. -

Russian vs. Turkish was started that year. Catherine was trying to find an exit to Black Sea. -

The war ended, Russian's and Turkish people signed a treaty. Catherine finally got the exit into the sea, but she never stopped on something that is already accomplished. -
Catherine the Great died.
Catherine the Great had died from stroke, which lead her to coma. Catherine was never able to recover from the coma. She was around 67 years old at the day of death. Her death is recorder to be in Tsarskoye Selo, Nov. 6, 1796. Her body is buried in Saint Petersburg Federal City, Russian Federation.
